In 1990, Assad Zaher, a mechanical engineer from Nazareth who worked in his modest workshop, decided to change the direction of his work, and opened Tahini El Arz, a small factory that invested all of its efforts in creating the best tahini.
In 2003, when Assad passed away unexpectedly, his wife, Julia, left her teaching career to continue her husband’s life’s work. Over the years, Julia has developed the company with wisdom and determination, establishing a new, impressive factory in the Sagi 2000 Industrial Area (near Kfar Baruch). The new factory replaced the small, original one in Nazareth. Assad followed his heart when he started producing tahini and Julia continued his dream by developing the El Arz brand, taking it from a family, boutique tahini to a global brand that can be found in stores and restaurants worldwide.
El Arz Tahini is produced from the best sesame in the world, the Ethiopian Humera variety. The seeds are carefully selected and are processed in a combination of the ancient tradition of slow and controlled roasting over steam, with state-of-the art technology, all while adhering to strict quality control. All of this, so that you can enjoy tahini that is no less than perfect.
Whether you choose classic tahini or whole sesame tahini, you are guaranteed a velvety texture and rich flavor experience. Julia Zaher managed the factory from the time of her husband’s passing until she sold it to the Sugat Group in August 2022.
